Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) a government agency for the state of Maharashtra, India is responsible for planning, designing, constructing road projects, flyovers, bridges, sea links and water transport. An integrated road development project of construction of eight lanes Mumbai-Pune express way was proposed by MSRDC which helps in reducing the time travel distance. As part of this project, Viaduct-2 is a critical portion of the project in the construction as it consists of a cable bridge structure of 50 m in length and 23 m in width. As this Viaduct cuts through deep forest and site location consist of steep cut slopes. This describes the challenges of slope stability in the steep cuts in the end portions of Viaduct at Abutments and analysing the slope stability by various techniques including Geological Mapping, Geophysical techniques, Geotechnical, Kinematic analysis by Dips to identify potential source or cause for instability and global stability analysis is carried out using Slide, Swedge, Rocplane software’s to ensure the safety and stability during construction and post construction.
