Opportunities and Challenges for Cross-border e-commerce Cooperation Between Sichuan Province and Central Asia

In 2022, the heads of state of China and the five Central Asian countries jointly declared the establishment of a China-Central Asia community with a shared future. Within the framework of the China-Central Asia Cooperation Mechanism, the economic and trade ministers of the six countries held the “China-Five Central Asian Countries” Economic and Trade Ministers’ Meeting on April 18, 2023. At this meeting, they deliberated on key issues such as trade and investment, the digital economy, green development, connectivity, multilateral cooperation, and sub-national cooperation, and exchanged in-depth views. As of May 2023, China and the Central Asian countries have signed cooperation documents for the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, formulated medium-and long-term economic and trade cooperation plans, signed investment protection agreements, and the economic and trade cooperation mechanism has become more comprehensive.
