摘要

This chapter explores the background, content, achievements, and spiritual legacy of China’s Third Front Construction (1964–1980). This large-scale industrial relocation project, covering 13 provinces, was driven by national security and industrial balance goals. Key achievements are made in terms of investment, railway construction, enterprises establishment, and the rise of new industrial cities. Unique industrial heritage (e.g., Fuling 816 Cave) and the Third Front Spirit—self-reliance, hard work, innovation, patriotism, and dedication—are highlighted. The chapter concludes that the project laid western China’s industrial foundation and left a precious spiritual legacy.
