Industrial Ethics

This chapter examines the essence, guidelines, and related social/technological issues of industrial ethics. It defines industrial ethics as behavioral norms governing interpersonal, human-machine, and human-nature relationships in industrial processes. Core guidelines outlined are people-oriented, green sustainability, safety and reliability, quality assurance, fair competition and cooperation, and fairness and justice. The chapter analyzes major historical and contemporary industrial social issues (e.g., colonial plunder, environmental damage, cultural invasion) and ethical challenges posed by technologies like AI (algorithmic bias) and big data (privacy), as well as in production/services (e.g., food safety). The findings stress that industrial ethics are crucial for mitigating the negative externalities of industrial civilization, underscoring the importance of corporate social responsibility and ethical constraints for healthy, sustainable development.
