Wind Turbine Configuration for Urban Areas Using QBlade
摘要
The integration of wind energy into urban environments presents unique challenges due to space constraints and lower wind speeds. This study aims to address these challenges by analysing the performance of both Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWTs) and Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) using QBlade, an open-source simulation tool. The research focuses on evaluating the aerodynamic efficiency of air foil designs under urban-specific conditions, including different rotor heights (10 m and 20 m for HAWTs and 10m and 15 m for VAWTs) and wind speeds (3 m/s and 10 m/s). QBlade software was used to get all the simulations and data for the analysing and comparison. Key results of this paper include the highest power output from the SG6043 foil of VAWT at 10m, 10m/s accounting to a total of 4113200 kw. Future scope of this project would be building a similar model and meeting the urban Indian needs through wind energy.
