Legacies, Policy Lessons and Prospects
摘要
The final chapter of this book draws conclusions from the account of housing provision and policy in the UK and particularly reflects upon the situation in the 2020s and how far successive policies have failed. The residual approach to housing within the welfare state and the mechanisms used to promote owner occupation and private renting delivered substantial support for some social groups but much less for others; and institutionalised inequalities through a division of welfare that fuelled greater inequality. The final sections of the chapter refer to the state of housing in the 2020s and the implications for future housing policy development in the UK.
