Korean Cultural Fandom: Subculture, Affective Practices and Identity

  • Ratan Kumar Roy

摘要

In the contemporary globalized world, cultural fandom, particularly in relation to Korean popular culture (K-pop, K-drama, and K-cinema), provides a unique lens to understand the fluid movement of identities across the transcultural contexts. The rapid expansion of the Korean cultural fandom among the youth, especially from the developing countries, demonstrates how affective practices and digital networks are central to subcultural formation as well as redefinition of identity. The massive fan following of Korean stars and artists propels realities of transcultural communication and interplaying global networks that transgress geo-cultural spatiality and lives.
