This chapter explores love and relationships through a bio-cultural lens, beginning with the developmental and neurological foundations of love. It examines how modern technology and cultural shifts, both global and Indian, interact with these biological processes—at times fostering but often disrupting genuine connection. The discussion then shifts to contemporary trends, including AI-driven influences and cultural narratives on love, analyzing their impact on mental health and well-being. As India navigates these shifts, we must note that both unanchored liberal ethos and rigid moral indoctrination, fail to provide the best foundation for lasting relationships. Instead, a balanced, deeply humane model of love—rooted in timeless Indic wisdom yet adaptable to contemporary realities, can guide relationship education and research. While algorithms may indicate compatibility, building a harmonious relationship remains an art, a skill and a practice that demands personal growth. Focusing on the interplay between self and other, this chapter investigates how Indic frameworks and relationship competencies contribute to the co-development of personal autonomy and intimate relational bonds.

摘要
