Determination of Critical Causative Factors for a Fresh Landslide in East Sikkim Through Multi-criteria Decision-Making Method and Implementable Solution
摘要
In recent years, landslides have become a concern throughout the world. Various reasons are there which may be responsible for the initiation of landslides. A fresh landslide occurred in a naturally stable area in East Sikkim in the year 2022. This landslide refers as fresh landside, as the affected location has never previously seen such an event as per landslide inventory. This study aims to identify the key causative factors for this landslide and propose a feasible solution. Various thematic maps like Rainfall (RF), Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Distance to Road (DR), Distance to Drainage (DTD), Distance to Lineament (DTL), Slope (Sl), Aspect (As), Curvature (Cu), Elevation (El), Topographic Wetness Index (TWI), Topographic Roughness Index (TRI), have been prepared through Geospatial Technology, as the probable causes of the concerned landslide. Field visit had been done and contour data, reports on soil investigation and geological investigation were prepared. Determination of critical causative factors, behind the fresh landslide in a naturally stable area, has been done through the Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach—Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and an implementable solution has been proposed to improve the slope stability. Analysis has been conducted utilizing Bishop's (1955) Method. It has been observed from the result that after considering the remedial measure Factor of Safety has been increased.
