An earthquake is an unexpected occurrence that produces a strong shaking of the ground and everything on it. It is the cause of the disastrous structural failure that undermine the stability and foundation of building. The biggest challenge structural engineers are currently facing is responding to this earthquake and devising methods to make the building’s structure earthquake resistant. Many researchers have looked into his work and created an energy dissipation device called damper. This study presents a rigorous and in-depth review of the prior research literature. The main emphasis of this paper is on reviewing various types of seismic energy dissipation device like passive type damper. The study will lay the ground work for future research in this field and aid in the development of more efficient techniques for strengthening building structures against earthquakes.
