One early morning in a certain year, a traffic accident occurred on the Hangzhou-Xiaoshan Highway. At the scene, there was the victim’s body and the motorcycle the victim was riding, with bloodstains next to the body. Not far from the body, there were skid marks left by a car’s emergency braking. The victim’s wristwatch had been damaged, and the hour hand pointed to 5:50. Investigators conducted an on-site examination and took a panoramic photo of the scene. The forensic conclusion was that the victim died from being struck by a car. A woman, Ms. Zhang, told investigators that her husband had informed her that at the time of the accident, he was walking 50 meters from the scene and witnessed a large “Jiefang” truck hitting the victim before fleeing the scene. Nearby, a milestone marked that the accident occurred 15 kilometers from Xiaoshan. The Xiaoshan Traffic Management Bureau reviewed video footage from the highway toll station and confirmed that around 5:50, two “Jiefang” trucks passed the accident site. One of these trucks was from a factory in Xiaoshan. Upon investigation, it was found that the truck had a newly exposed patch where the paint had peeled off. A dispatch record from the factory indicated that driver Liu had driven back to Xiaoshan from Hangzhou on the morning of the 13th, and after getting out of the car, his face appeared anxious. The vehicle log stated that driver Liu returned to the factory at 5:55 AM on the 13th. Investigators questioned Liu and Zhao, the passenger in the truck, but both denied being involved in the traffic accident that morning.
