摘要

In this chapter, the design, optimization and analysis of a lightweight bicycle frame using advanced materials such as carbon fibre, aluminium, titanium and stainless steel have been carried out. This study aims to minimize the weight of frame with high structural integrity, performance and safety. One of the major breakthroughs in design was eliminating traditional joints, which account for additional weight and are often failure points. Maximizing the use of frame geometry and material selection and optimizing to reduce the joints between members lead to a healthier structure in terms of longevity. Static and dynamic analyses are carried out using Ansys to understand the behaviour of the frame under different loading conditions such as static loads from rider weight and dynamic loads due to impact while riding on road. These simulated tests for an in-depth understanding of stress distribution, deformation and dynamic response further helped to optimize the position and geometry of materials. The results show an impressive weight reduction without any significant impact on performance and safety. The chapter deals with the design and optimization of lightweight frame and analysis of bicycle frame. This development of advanced bicycle frame concepts through integration of materials science, design innovation and computational analysis will lead to a high-performance frame capable of use in both competitive cycling and general bicycling purposes.
