This chapter focuses on the purpose of provisional measures. Section 2 of this chapter identifies the rights that may be protected by provisional measures, including substantive rights, procedural rights, and the right to maintain the exclusivity of ICSID arbitration. Section 3 examines the characteristics of a protectable right, that is, the protectable right reasonably exists and is relevant to the principal complaint.
