The archaeological cultures before Yinxu 殷墟, as far as we know, include the stages of Longshan 龙山 and Yangshao 仰韶. They are both late Neolithic cultures. Among their relics, neither bronzeware nor the ornaments for chariots were found. Current archaeological understanding suggests that the commonly referenced ‘Ding of Xiahou 夏后之鼎’ and ‘Coinage of Taihao 太皞之币’ both refer to the relics of the Warring States Period or even later. Thus, the beginning of Chinese bronzeware cannot be earlier than the Yinxu Era.

摘要
