Chinese President Xi Jinping initiated the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in the autumn of 2013 with the primary goal of building three cross-Eurasian economic corridors and two maritime routes to connect East Asia with the economically developed countries in Europe. It’s foreseeable that the implementation of such a massive initiative will bring Asian countries to the front row of the world stage. It is a long-term project involving all countries in the Eurasian region. Inspired by the ancient business routes that once ran through the entire Eurasian continent, the BRI reflects the modern trend of economic globalization and regionalization, which is beneficial for the development of regional countries. The China-proposed “initiative” is aimed at reviving the ancient Silk Road and blazing new routes to ensure free political, economic, and trade relations between Asia and Europe.

摘要
