摘要

In this research paper, a statistical assessment of the wind speed characteristics for six different offshore regions across India in annual period at 50 m hub height was analyzed. For this analysis purpose 4 years (2012–2015) modern era retrospective analysis for research and application data set (MEERA) wind speed data was collected from Wind Navigator tool from Windographer software. The Weibull parameters required for analyzing the wind speed characteristics are determined by using seven methods such as Least square method, Maximum likelihood method, Wind Atlas analysis and Application Program(WAsP), Energy pattern factor method, Moment method, Empirical method and Equivalent energy method. The high value of the correlation coefficient identifies to choose the Empirical method to fit accurately of the time series wind speed data. Three offshore commercial wind turbines annual energy output (kW) and capacity factor has been reviewed technically. Finally, the result of the wind power class identifies the possible location for installing the offshore wind turbines.
