摘要

The systems’ ever-changing nature and growing size have since long motivated the research on unique plant combinations requiring intelligent control techniques that can surpass the industry standard PID controller. In this study, a plant comprising a few non-conventional energy resources with non-linearities (delays, saturation and dead zone) has been considered for load frequency control (LFC) application. For this task, a Fuzzy-PID controller with gaussian membership functions has been designed, tuned and analyzed. The performance of the Fuzzy-PID controller has been assessed against the classical PID controller for disturbance rejection and model uncertainties. For tuning the controllers, Grey-Wolf Optimization (GWO) technique was employed to minimize ITAE as the objective. The Fuzzy-PID controller offered an ITAE of 8.76 × 10−8 against 3.24 × 10−7 for the PID controller. Therefore, concluding that the Fuzzy-PID controller is a better alternative to the classical PID controller is safe.
