Evaluation of SMES in Two Area Thermal Interconnected AGC System with Hybrid DE SA Technique

In this work hybridisation of differential evolution and simulated annealing (hDE-SA) technique is proposed for interconnected power system. In this research two-area non-reheat thermal system is investigated with proportional-integral (PI) controller whose parameters are optimised using hybrid DE and SA technique. The supremacy of the presented approach is shown by evaluating outcomes with bacteria foraging optimisation algorithm (BFOA), (GA) genetic algorithm, (PSO) particle swarm optimisation and hBFOA-PSO techniques for identical controller and system. Proportional-Integral controller and SMES parameters are optimised using DE technique and SA is utilized to finely adjust parameters presented by DE technique. Dynamic performances of presented hDE-SA technique are compared individually with DE. Sensitivity analysis is conducted with variation by parameter for proposed system to show the robustness of the system.
