Consciousness and Connections
摘要
This chapter explores the contribution of religious and scientific perspectives to understanding the integrated relationship among body, mind, and spirit in leading for mission. It presents the Christian tradition’s view of the human person with the Spirit as the animating force that integrates all dimensions of being. The chapter then introduces basic concepts from science for understanding human experience, specifically: brain anatomy and plasticity, genes and cells, the interaction of various systems within the body, the influence of thoughts, energy within the field of quantum physics, and the coherence of brain and heart functions. These scientific perspectives are brought into perspective with spiritual practices to offer a holistic framework for leadership that engages the interdependent dimensions of the whole person. The chapter concludes by affirming the value of both religion and science in providing complementary insights for leading consciously and cultivating a deeper sense of connection with self, others, creation, and the divine.
