5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a chemotherapeutic agent used topically and intralesionally for a variety of premalignant and other dermatologic conditions. Further, combining 5-FU with lasers, cryotherapy and retinoids, while treating premalignant lesions has been associated with synergistic effects. Besides, 5-FU (topical and intralesional) is simple to use, except for pain encountered while administering the drug intralesionally. This however can be prevented with adequate anaesthesia.
