Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) is a first-line drug used for the treatment of lymphatic filariasis caused by Wuchereria bancrofti and Brugia malayi and for the therapy of tropical pulmonary eosinophilia, an uncommon manifestation of lymphatic filarial infection. It is also used in treating loiasis.
