Apremilast is an oral phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor, now approved by the FDA for the management of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthropathy and oral ulcers of Behcet disease. As biologic treatment is often associated with a significant amount of adverse effects, other safer therapeutic options with efficacious outcomes are readily welcomed and implemented by dermatologists in their therapeutic arsenal. Apremilast is one such drug which has shown promise in the management of psoriasis, psoriatic arthropathy and many other dermatoses.
