Introduction to Nanotheranostics and Metabolic Syndrome
摘要
Central obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and hyperglycemia are among the metabolic abnormalities that make up the multifactorial health condition known as metabolic syndrome (MetS). It presents serious cardiovascular and neurodegenerative risks, contributing to an increasing global burden. Because of the syndrome’s complex pathophysiology and diverse etiology, current diagnostic and treatment methods frequently fall short. A new, integrated approach to real-time disease monitoring and focused intervention is provided by nanotheranostics, a combination of diagnostics and therapeutics employing nanoscale platforms. A thorough review of MetS, including its molecular foundations, diagnostic standards, and clinical stages, is given in this chapter. It explores the rapidly developing field of nanotheranostics, highlighting its therapeutic (drug delivery, gene therapy) and diagnostic (biosensors, imaging) uses. Advanced nanomaterials, present issues (biocompatibility, scalability, regulations), and new future directions (personalized nanomedicine, AI integration) are also covered. There are encouraging opportunities for precision healthcare in the treatment of MetS due to the convergence of metabolic science and nanotechnology.
