Nantong Blue Calico (NTBC), as one of the national intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in China, is an outstanding representative of traditional Chinese folk handicraft. However, it is hard to obtain and disseminate NTBC because the NTBC patterns are scattered distributions and lacking in data organization. To help more and more people understand the cultural and history of relevant patterns, this paper constructs an NTBC-pattern cultural system through ontology and metadata techniques based on the NTBC dataset. First, we construct the NTBC pattern ontology by determining the conceptual system of the NTBC patterns, the relationships between patterns, and data properties. Second, we specify metadata for NTBC patterns to make a normalization of the data. Finally, we obtain an NTBC patterns cultural system and show some knowledge graphs to express the relationship between the cultural connotation of NTBC and NTBC patterns. This cultural system realizes reasonable organization of cultural resources in NTBC patterns and provides professional knowledge of these patterns to users.
