Endoscopic Extra-Articular Cubital Tunnel Release

摘要

Cubital tunnel syndrome, the second most common compressive neuropathy after carpal tunnel syndrome, occurs due to compression of the ulnar nerve at the elbow. While conservative management is effective in early stages, surgical intervention is required for persistent symptoms or motor deficits. Traditional open decompression has long been the standard approach, but endoscopic cubital tunnel release is gaining popularity due to its minimally invasive nature, offering similar clinical outcomes with fewer complications. This article reviews the anatomy of the ulnar nerve, potential sites of entrapment, and the evolution of endoscopic techniques for ulnar nerve decompression. Endoscopic release provides several advantages, including reduced scar tenderness and quicker recovery, without compromising effectiveness. Surgical indications, contraindications, and technique are discussed, alongside potential complications and the benefits of using specialized instruments. Endoscopic cubital tunnel release represents a promising advancement in the management of cubital tunnel syndrome, offering a less-invasive option with favorable patient outcomes.
