Acute Elbow Instability: Arthroscopic Repair or Augmentation of the Lateral Collateral Ligament Complex

Elbow is a joint with the most common dislocation second to shoulder. The dislocation usually occurs during adolescence and early adulthood. Types of elbow dislocation depend on mechanisms of injury. Most common type is the posterior dislocation, which occurs up to 90% of elbow dislocations. Most of the time, it is present with simple elbow dislocation with no associated fracture. Elbow dislocation with associated fracture including fracture of radial head or coronoid is called a complex fracture dislocation, which will not be discussed in this chapter. The second most common type is anterior dislocation. The rarest type is divergent type which is an ulnohumeral joint dislocation with radioulnar joint separation [1, 2].
