This chapter focuses on the problem of enterprise transformation in terms of human-centered design and a theory, context, and an overall framework for transformation. Four organizational domains are explored—healthcare, education, energy, and mis/disinformation. Opportunities and potential impacts of AI in these domains are discussed. Societal transformation is addressed in the context of public-private ecosystems, adopting a human-centered design perspective and advocating a human-centered society that explicitly balances business innovations and societal exploitation. The politics of change are explored, and how AI can contribute to fostering the balance necessary to successful transformations of organizations and society is considered.
