摘要

Distributed power generation is a solution for remote areas not connected to grid power supply. Micro Gas Turbines (MGTs) can be used as distributed power generation using locally produced sustainable fuels like biogas. However, biogas has a low calorific value fuel with low flame speed, leading to lower flame stability when used in the combustion system. Blending of hydrogen with biogas can enhance the laminar flame speed. The present study analyzes the effect of hydrogen enrichment on the laminar flame speed of biogas under operating conditions similar to MGT systems. It was observed that with an increase in H2, the flame speed of BG60 increases, which supports the use of biogas-H2 mixture as fuel in MGTs. The flame speed increase rate under the influence of H2 enrichment is unaffected by operating pressure and unburnt gas temperature. The increment in flame speed is more pronounced in the rich side than the lean side.
