Neurological disorders are more prevalent nowadays and they pose a major burden on worldwide health. Research studies have revealed that various neurodegenerative, neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders are affecting individuals worldwide. This has been a major issue to look up into. There are various drugs prescribed by the physicians to the patients, which show a wide range of side effects. To overcome these side effects of the drug, there is a need to switch for a herbal medicine with least or no side effects. From ancient times, treatments involved Passiflora incarnata or Passionflower to treat the neurological disorders like anxiety, sleeplessness, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy or seizures. Several studies have recently demonstrated its sedative and antianxiety properties. Prolonged stress conditions can lead to mood disorders as well as issues with sleep, and difficulty in focussing. It has also been established that passionflower exhibits beneficial effects on memory functioning and also serves as a neuromodulator, where the GABAergic effects of Passiflora incarnata have led to its widespread usage as a sedative and anxiolytic. There were no negative consequences noted, such as memory loss or the collapse of psychometric functions. However, further research is necessary to fully understand the effectiveness and mechanisms of action of Passiflora in these contexts. Overall, understanding neurological disorders is crucial for developing effective treatment strategies and improving patient care. As research advances, new insights may emerge into the causes and potential therapies for these debilitating conditions.
