This chapter examines the current state of OVC care in Zimbabwe, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for building resilience through community-based initiatives. It also analyses the discourse surrounding OVC care, revealing the power dynamics and social relationships that shape the experiences of OVC. This chapter argues that integrated community-based approaches can provide a comprehensive and sustainable solution to care for OVC, promoting resilience and well-being among them. The main finding of this chapter is that integrated community-based approaches can build resilience among OVC by providing a supportive and nurturing environment. The recommendation for policy and practice is that policymakers and practitioners should prioritise the development of integrated community-based approaches that promote resilience among OVC, considering the cultural context and power dynamics that shape their experiences.

摘要

In Zimbabwe, the HIV/AIDS pandemic and other socio-economic challenges have led to a significant increase in the number of orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC). Building resilience among OVC is critical to ensuring their well-being and prospects. This chapter uses a desktop and critical discourse analysis approach to explore the potential of integrated community-based approaches in promoting resilience among OVC.
