Conclusions and Policy Implication
摘要
This study examines the role of modern dairy farming in enhancing rural women’s empowerment in selected villages of Mymensingh district, Bangladesh. Although dairy farming has long served as a traditional source of household income, it now provides a promising pathway to enhance livelihoods and women’s agency. Findings show that women in V1 (M), practicing modern dairy farming with crossbred cattle, artificial insemination, and improved herd management, achieve higher household income and greater empowerment. They exhibit stronger decision-making power, economic independence, self-confidence, and social recognition compared to women in V1 (T) and V2. The study emphasizes that access to modern dairy technologies, credit facilities, skill development, and supportive social networks can substantially empower rural women. Beyond income, active involvement in modern dairy farming fosters autonomy, leadership, and improved social status, offering a model for gender-inclusive rural development in Bangladesh.
