Uveal intraocular tumors are usually seen in adults. Uveal melanoma can occur in iris (8%), ciliary body (12%) and choroidal melanoma (80%). Uveal nevi are benign melanocytic proliferations that are usually monitored clinically. Suspicious nevus should be differentiated from small melanomas. Gross and histopathology of choroidal melanomas have distinct pathological characteristics. The prognostic factors of choroidal melanoma now include genetic study on chromosomal abnormalities. Differential diagnosis of choroidal tumors includes melanocytoma, hemangioma, osteoma, spindle cell tumors, medulloepithelioma and metastasis.
