The retina is a light sensitive tissue which is behind the vitreous cavity. The function of the retina is to convert light into electrical signals to form images in the brain. Retina consist of ten layers where photoreceptors are useful for dim and bright light. The vitreous, on the other hand is a gel-like clear substance. Disease of vitreo-retina can be seen in systemic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, circulatory disorders of the body, various infections, inflammation, and systemic malignancy.
