Health Financing in India
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of India’s health financing landscape, drawing on insights from the National Health Accounts Estimates. It examines the structure, composition, and trends in healthcare expenditures by analyzing successive National Health Accounts rounds from 2013–14 to 2020–21. The chapter explores the allocation of financial resources across public and private sectors, with a particular focus on key indicators such as total health expenditure (THE), government health expenditure (GHE), and out-of-pocket expenditure (OOPE). Finally, it traces financing trends over the past decade and compares India’s performance with other countries in the Southeast Asia region to provide insights into the evolving dynamics of health financing in India.
