There have been a number of linguistic studies of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland from various linguistic perspectives, and quite a few of them take a systemic functional approach, some of which explored the text from the metafunctional perspectives. Following Huang and Liu (2015) and Huang and Chen (2018), this study will investigate the text and some of its simplified versions in more detail. The present chapter attempts to follow up the study conducted by Huang and Chen (2018), and the purpose of this research is to explore the ideational (in the SFL sense, experiential and logical) analysis of the original version and four of its corresponding simplified versions. This study is different from the research of Huang and Chen (2018) in that their focus is on the grammatical complexity in relation to lexis and grammar, while the present study mainly focuses on the ideational analysis of the original versions and four of their simplified versions.

摘要
