Mitigation of Power Quality Issues in Distribution Network Through Interline Unified Power Quality Conditioner
摘要
The advancement of power electronic devices and its usage in electrical applications leads to many problems in the quality of power. But a good quality power is essential for industries and domestic purposes. In this article, an advanced custom power device termed Interline Unified Power Quality Conditioner (IUPQC) is proposed to mitigate the power quality problems like swell, sag and harmonics. The control strategy applied in the IUPQC scheme uses the conventional proportional-integral (PI) controller so that, the complexity is reduced. Various load conditions like linear, nonlinear, and unbalanced loads are experimented in the technique to prove the effectiveness of the custom power device IUPQC. Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) levels in line current are reduced to minimum range within the IEEE standard. The simulations are carried out in MATLAB/Simulink tool and the results are presented. The performance of IUPQC in mitigating the sag and swell voltages along with the reduction of harmonics is superior compared to the other devices like DSTATCOM, Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) and Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC).
