Recent Advancements in Nanotechnology and Biotechnology in Pulp Bleaching
摘要
Pulp and paper manufacturing has advanced, but environmental issues persist. Efforts are being made to expand the opportunity for raw substances and cleanser production techniques to reduce strength intake. Biotechnology, particularly enzymatic processes, is being utilized to enhance pulp bleaching, with xylanases and laccases likely providing environmentally friendly bleaching for wood and agro-based pulps. Xylanase treatment eliminates white pulp flicker, reducing flicker in white light. A chlorine-free white method has been developed using an enzymatic treatment with manganese peroxidase (MnP), thereby reducing chemical intake and increasing the bioavailability of organic halides in the effluent. This technique, followed by hydrogen peroxide separation, is being investigated for increasing pulp and paper manufacturing. Advancements in nanotechnology and biotechnology, including the use of enzymes for biobleaching, can significantly reduce the environmental footprint of pulp and paper production while enhancing product quality and reducing energy consumption.
