The escalating global warming poses challenges to the low-carbon transition of energy worldwide, with the industrial sector facing demands for green and low-carbon transformation. China has already initiated practices to supply clean steam using pressurized water reactors (PWRs). However, the independent steam supply from PWRs typically provides steam at approximately 260 °C and 5 MPa, which is still insufficient to meet the steam usage requirements of a broader range of industrial users, indicating that the potential of PWR steam supply has not been fully exploited. 摘要

This paper takes the advanced large-scale PWR “Hualong One” in China as a case study to introduce an optimized PWR industrial steam supply system, which significantly enhances the steam supply parameters of PWRs. The paper analyzes the feasibility of PWR steam supply in three typical application scenarios. The study employs software simulation modeling and conducts an economic evaluation strategies and recommendations are proposed, aiming to accelerate the practical role that nuclear energy can play in energy transition.
