The amount of carbon emissions from transportation vehicles is increasing owing to a huge demand for transporting goods. The various governments impose policies to curb carbon emissions. This paper presents multiple transportation models incorporating polices such as carbon cap policy, carbon tax policy, carbon cap and sale policy, and carbon cap and purchase policy. These policies are implemented with 4-dimensional transportation problem as objective function or constraint. The optimal solutions obtained through generalized reduced gradient method in Lingo 11.0 are compared with the outcome of a basic transportation model without considering any carbon emissions-related policy. Results demonstrate that policies like carbon tax policy, and carbon cap and sale policy can reduce the carbon emissions by compromising with higher transportation cost.

摘要
