This study introduces ProSkillz, a mobile application designed to connect users with local service providers for home-based services, differentiating itself from platforms like Urban Company and Homeasy. While similar platforms offer scheduling for services such as cleaning, laundry, and electronics repair, ProSkillz uniquely prioritizes the promotion of local service providers, aiming to enhance their visibility within communities and empower small businesses. The application utilizes Node.js for backend operations, Express.js for server-side scripting, GraphQL for efficient data queries, React and React Native for user interfaces, and MongoDB for scalable data storage. It employs the Haversine formula for precise distance calculations, enabling users to search for services and view providers on a map-based interface. User feedback indicates improved satisfaction with local provider options, service reliability, and ease of booking compared to existing platforms. ProSkillz offers a community-focused, efficient platform that contributes to the growing trend of on-demand service applications, addressing key gaps in local provider visibility and discoverability.
