China will “improve the social governance system based on collaboration, participation, and shared benefits, so as to make social governance more effective,” stated the Report to the 20th CPC National Congress. In advancing the modernization of social governance in the new era, it is important to give full play to the role of a new-type think tank system with Chinese characteristics, put into practice the results of think tank research on social governance, and improve China’s overall capacity for social governance. Having well recognized the daunting work to promote social civilization, think tank research keeps an eye on actual social phenomena associated with research problems and effectively integrates theory and practice, so that think tanks can better fulfill their roles and missions with greater advice-giving wisdom.
