The digital workflow in computational cytology means the acquisition of data from the cytology samples along with metadata, viewing the digitized images and interpreting the cytology-related data by artificial intelligence. The digital workflow is the cornerstone of computational cytology. It integrates digital cytology and advanced computational techniques such as artificial neural networks. The current chapter discusses the various steps of the digital workflow including sample collection and preparation, digitalization of the slide, image storage and management, image pre-processing and storage.
