Artificial intelligence (AI) has made a paradigm shift in various fields of medical science. It has the full potential to help in the diagnosis, classification, interpretation of immunocytochemistry and molecular biology. AI can give a holistic approach to the disease to the pathologists and the clinicians. There are certain challenges and limitations in the implementation of AI in cytology laboratories such as good-quality data acquisition, ethical issues, black box problems and recognition from the regulatory authorities. It is expected that these limitations will be overcome in the future. The pathologist’s effort leveraging AI will bring more effective care to the patients. The present chapter explores the future pathway of AI in cytology in terms of the opportunities and challenges.
