Space Vector Modeling of AC Machines

This chapter introduces the mathematical foundations of space vector representation for AC machines. It explains how three-phase electrical variables can be transformed into two-axis stationary and rotating reference frames, which significantly simplifies the analysis of machine dynamics. Both synchronous and asynchronous machine models are derived, providing a unified framework that facilitates control-oriented design. Emphasis is placed on the importance of accurate modeling as a prerequisite for effective control strategies.
