Analyzing Sinographic Digital Language Art: Theories, Models, and Challenges
摘要
This chapter will discuss the theories and models that currently exist for analyzing text-based digital works. These theories were primarily developed for works in English or other European languages. By scrutinizing them, we can examine whether they can be directly applied to study sinograph-based digital language art. Where there are issues in digital sinographs that these techniques cannot explain or handle, this may indicate specificities of the digital sinograph and therefore help us to locate their affordances. Additionally, this chapter will examine related existing studies on Chinese experimental literature and sinograph-based digital language art. There is a lack of research exclusively focused on sinographic digital text, and this chapter will explain why such research is necessary to fully investigate the materiality and affordances of sinographs in digital language art.
