Research on Equipment Qualification Standards for Automatic Fire Alarm System in Nuclear Power Plant

Years of operational experience in nuclear power plants (NPPs) have demonstrated that fire poses a significant threat to plant safety. With advancements in nuclear power technology, both domestic and international nuclear power peers have placed greater emphasis on the reliability of fire protection measures in NPPs. To enhance the safety level of NPPs in fire situations, it is necessary to strengthen the durability, seismic resistance, and other performance aspects of related fire protection equipment. Currently, there are few relevant standards in China for the equipment qualification of automatic fire alarm systems in the special environment of NPPs. The cur-rent standards are primarily targeted at civilian equipment or the design-related standards, rather than equipment qualification standards for special environments in NPPs. Therefore, it is imperative to analyze, compare, and study the equipment qualification standards in international standard systems, explore and integrate the equipment qualification requirements of domestic NPPs with different reactor types. The paper introduces the research on equipment qualification for automatic fire alarm systems in nuclear power plants and analyzes the standard system applicable to equipment qualification. Firstly, the applicable standards for equipment qualification are analyzed from three levels: main standards, supporting standards, and general standards. Subsequently, based on the uniqueness of the design of automatic fire alarm systems and equipment in nuclear power plants, the needs of power plants with different reactor types are integrated and fused. Meanwhile, combining practical engineering experience and research results from nuclear power plants, equipment qualification requirements for automatic fire alarm systems in nuclear power plants are proposed. Mainly includes general performance qualification requirements, special qualification requirements, and non-standard equipment qualification requirements. By standardizing the qualification procedures and criteria, the maturity and advancement of automatic fire alarm system equipment in China's nuclear power industry can be enhanced, thereby improving the overall fire safety of nuclear power plants.
