In examining Lamb’s problems through time-domain solutions, 2D scenarios serve as the optimal starting point for several reasons: Firstly, 2D problems are simpler and easier to manage compared to 3D ones; secondly, the Cagniard-de Hoop method allows for the derivation of exact, closed-form solutions for 2D cases.
