Adenoviral infections are the commonest cause of acute keratoconjunctivitis globally, manifesting as red eye. Adenoviral keratoconjunctivitis presents with redness, lacrimation, ocular discomfort and photophobia. In later stages, it can present with epithelial and subepithelial corneal lesions. Nummular corneal opacities are the most common sequelae seen in most cases. Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC) is the commonest clinical manifestation of adenoviral keratitis that is highly contagious and known to spread rapidly in the community. Management of adenoviral infections is mostly supportive. Most adenoviral infections are self-limiting in nature. Though most cases resolve spontaneously and require no intervention, few cases developing vision-threatening complications which need to be managed aggressively.
