Among the viruses, herpes simplex keratitis is likely the most common ocular condition associated with uveitis. It typically presents as a painful, red eye, accompanied by photophobia and decreased vision. Frequently, patients with HSV stromal keratitis have simultaneous anterior uveitis. Patients with a history of epithelial herpes infection may also develop anterior uveitis, even in the absence of active corneal lesions. Recurrent episodes of anterior uveitis are common, which can complicate to secondary glaucoma and vision loss. This chapter provides a detailed overview of HSV keratouveitis, including its pathogenesis, clinical features, differential diagnosis, investigations, and management.
