This chapter aims to give a comprehensive background to the book, showing the motivation, aims of research and methodology. It starts by highlighting the author’s professional experiences, illuminating why it is important to appreciate the changing dynamics of justice in the Global South. The chapter introduces the key aim of the book—to explore how transnational networks influence justice in the Global South, particularly their impact on transitional justice in the different contexts. The chapter shows how Doctrinal, Socio-Legal Legal Research and Comparative Legal Methodologies are conflated to navigate the complex interactions, influences and impact of NGOs on transitional justice landscapes. The chapter lays a foundation for the book’s contribution to the study and research on Justice in the Global South, within the remit of transitional justice.
